 About Myself

Hello everyone, my name is Cillian McEvoy and welcome to my first blog!!

I am a 4th year business student studying at SETU Waterford. I live in County Kilkenny in the small village of Mullinavat, located about 10 miles from Waterford. Since 2021, I have been on the Bachelor of Business (Honours) course at SETU and as I have already mentioned I am currently in my 4th and final year of my course.

In my 3rd year, I specialised in the accounting stream and as part of the course I went on work placement. I spent six months working for PwC as an intern where I gained valuable experience in the audit and assurance sector. Although it was a very worthwhile experience, I decided not to accept an offer of a graduate programme with PwC after I graduate. It helped me evaluate further what I want my career to be and what I don't want it to be. Obviously, I still want a career in the business world, just not in that particular area of business. I'll figure it out!

Aside from that, since I was fifteen, I have worked part-time for a fleet management company, Holden Plant Rentals. It started as a placement in transition year but later I was asked back and I have been there on and off ever since. As an employer, they have been very good to me. They have always allowed me to be flexible around my college hours and overall they have been very supportive. They even allowed me the time to go on work placement for those six months and let me come back to work afterwards.

Working for both Holden Plant Rentals and PwC have definitely given me a deep insight into the business world and I look forward to see where that experience and the backup of my degree will take me career wise after I graduate next summer.

I will end it there for now. Thank you for reading and looking forward to my next blog!

All the best,

Cillian
