Cybersecurity for Small Businesses
Hi everyone, and welcome back to blog number 8!!👋😆
Today yet again, I'll be briefly discussing another important business topic.... cybersecurity for small businesses.
This topic is very important to me at the moment as SETU (the college I'm attending) has recently become the victim of a cybersecurity breach. I had no idea just how much a business could be affected long term but I am now seeing first hand every day just how important cybersecurity is.
For a small business, if a hacker is successful in gaining access to your network, they can inflict all sorts of damage in terms of:
- Customer credit card information
- Company's bank details
- Manufacturing processes
- Business growth plans
This can all lead to huge financial losses and costs as the company tries to rid the network of threats and make up for the loss of business.
One way that companies can try to prevent such a breach is by training its employees. Many security breaches are simply down to human error, so by investing in educating your staff about the significant dangers, in the long term your company will save a fortune!!
It should also go without saying, but it is essential that these business constantly are keeping their software up to date. As well as that they should be deploying antivirus software and keeping all their files updated on a regular basis.
Of course, securing your WIFI network and maintaining a strong password policy is also key to keeping your company out of harms way.
If smaller companies want to maintain competition with their larger counterparts, this area is something that they should no doubt be investing in. After all, the benefits are so far reaching!!
As always, I hope you found this informative because sadly I think this is something that will become more of an issue in the future.
Thanks for reading and of course.. mind yourselves!!👋👋💓💓
Very informative since the cyberattack in SETU!!
