Cybersecurity for Small Businesses

Image
Hi everyone, and welcome back to blog number 8!!👋😆 Today yet again, I'll be briefly discussing another important business topic.... cybersecurity for small businesses. This topic is very important to me at the moment as SETU (the college I'm attending) has recently become the victim of a cybersecurity breach. I had no idea just how much a business could be affected long term but I am now seeing first hand every day just how important cybersecurity is.  For a small business, if a hacker is successful in gaining access to your network, they can inflict all sorts of damage in terms of: Customer credit card information Company's bank details Manufacturing processes Business growth plans This can all lead to huge financial losses and costs as the company tries to rid the network of threats and make up for the loss of business. One way that companies can try to prevent such a breach is by training its employees. Many security breaches are simply down to human error, so by inv...

When these small businesses invest in SEO, automatically more people will be able to discover them online, leading to the potential following advantages: Obviously, it brings in more customers. Evolution of Internet Technologies: Web 1.0 to Web 3.0

Image
Hello again and welcome back to yet another one of my blogs!!👋👋 Hope you all had a great Halloween, but sadly it's back to reality now!😒😒 Today I will briefly discuss another hot business related topic and that is the evolution of internet technologies over the last few decades. To show this evolution, I will be discussing the gradual transition from Web 1.0 to Web 3.0 Web 1.0 ( "Static Web" ), was first launched back in the 1990s and marked the beginning of the new internet era. Although it was considered a massive technological advancement at the time, there were still some limitations.  Any content that you could access was read-only and non-interactive and websites were built using only basic HTML. It was soon clear that improvements would have to be made to make the web more user friendly, which in turn led to the new "Social Web" era. Web 2.0, which was launched in the early noughties represented a shift to more dynamic and user friendly content. Pla...

Cloud-Based Analytics for Small Businesses

Image
Hello again!! 👋👋 Welcome to what is now my 5th blog!!  Thanks to my regulars for sticking with me and welcome to anyone that is just joining me for the first time. I hope you enjoy the content and feel free to leave a comment afterwards. Today I will discuss yet another business related topic and this time it concerns cloud-based analytics and the benefits they give to small businesses. Cloud-based analytics has become a game changer for many small businesses across the globe and has allowed them to manage their data similarly to their larger counterparts. As long as they have an internet connection, smaller businesses can now afford to be more flexible in terms of their working arrangements. It has allowed more people to continue their work at home which will only help to increase productivity and hopefully job satisfaction. With your entire staff working on the one system, collaboration between different departments is increased dramatically and this in turn saves time ha...

SaaS ERP for SMEs

Image
Hi everyone, and welcome back to my blog! Thanks for hanging in there!!😂😂 I hope you have found my content interesting so far and have gotten something new out of it. As you will see by the title above, I am going to discuss something completely different today and that is the importance of having digital systems, such as ERP in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The only way that businesses who fall into this category can survive competition from their larger counterparts (MNCs etc.) is to invest heavily in the idea of ERP and digital systems in general. To be honest, this should be a no-brainer, as ERP has the ability to combine all aspects of the business into one efficient and totally integrated system. This new system in turn will help businesses to significantly reduce management errors and improve the overall decision making process. Simple tasks like invoicing, working on the payroll and keeping track of your stock will now be automated and the over reliance on ...

The Rise of Digital Payment Systems

Image
Hi everyone!! 👋👋 Welcome to my 3rd ever blog, I hope I haven't bored you all just yet!😂😂 Today I am going to briefly cover another hot topic that has affected us all in society one way or another, and that is the rise of digital payment systems. I think it is safe to say at this stage, that paying for stuff in cash is quickly becoming a thing of the past, especially for the younger generation. Nowadays, the onset of online payment systems, like Revolut for example, has made the transferring of our money much more quicker, with many more people opting to use Revolut as their main banking app and move away from the more well known banks like AIB or Bank of Ireland. I have Revolut myself and in many respects it does make my life easier, in terms of payments and transferring money, but at the same time I have still maintained my account with one of the more traditionally used banks. I have done this because I am still slightly sceptical of Revolut when it comes to the other hot t...

South East of Ireland a good place to invest for a tech firm??

Image
Hi everyone and welcome to my 2nd blog!! Today I am going to shut up talking about myself, which you will be glad to hear!!😂😂  Instead I am going to briefly talk about what I think about the South East of Ireland and whether it is a good place for a tech firm to set up and invest their money in. My Thoughts   Being from the south-east myself, I only know too well in terms of investment why this area is so lucrative to firms across all different sectors. A huge plus for this region is how easily accessible it is to our capital city, Dublin. Thanks to our great road network, i.e M50, M9, M11, you can leave Dublin Airport/Port and be in the heart of the south-east within the hour. This alone will make it easier for company executives, potential customers and suppliers to travel in and out of the country at ease.  As well as that obvious advantage, in recent years the amount of young educated people based in the south-east has rapidly increased thanks to great investm...
